4 NJ Assistance Programs to help your family!

The world changed in 2020. The pandemic showed humanity’s best qualities: how we adapt to the worst situations and our compassion towards those that need help!

Staff Management Group wants to help the community recover from the pandemic’s impact. So we decided to put together a list of assistance programs currently available in New Jersey. 

1) NJ Housing Resource Center (NJHRC)

The NJHRC is a FREE, online searchable registry of affordable and accessible housing units throughout the State of New Jersey, including:

  • Affordable Rental Housing
  • Affordable For-sale Housing
  • Housing with Accessibility Features

It was created by the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (HMFA) to provide a central location for New Jerseyans to search for and list available affordable and accessible housing units throughout the state.

2) NJ’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

SNAP, provides food assistance to families and individuals with low incomes to help them buy groceries through a benefits card accepted in most food retail stores and some farmer’s markets. Eligibility is set by several factors, such as income and resources.

Your household must meet specific requirements to be eligible for SNAP and receive benefits, including meeting the maximum allowable income listed here

3) NJ Family Care

NJ FamilyCare is a federal and state-funded health insurance program created to help qualified New Jersey residents of any age access affordable health insurance.

The comprehensive healthcare coverage program provides a wide range of services: Doctor visits, Eyeglasses, Hospitalization, Lab tests, X-rays, Prescriptions, Regular check-ups, Mental health, Dental, Preventive screenings, Autism services, Community doula services, Help with personal care needs.

4) NJ Power On

In addition to providing affordable housing solutions, the AHA, working together with different Affiliate Agencies in New Jersey, manages several programs that help those seeking relief in paying their utility bills.

Their main program PAGEPayment Assistance for Gas and Electric—is a state-funded utility program that helps low-income to moderate-income families in New Jersey pay their utility bills. This financial assistance program is designed to help those struggling to pay their electric and natural gas bills.
