Beginning January 1, 2024, New Jersey’s minimum wage will increase by $1 to $15.13 per hour for most of its workforce.
Minimum wage increases are determined by the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development (NJDOL) using either a rate specified in the law passed by Governor Murphy or a calculation based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI). Whichever results in the higher number is the one that is used.
This achieves – and exceeds – the goal set by legislation signed by Governor Murphy in February 2019 to raise the minimum wage to at least $15 per hour by 2024 for most employees.
